The early years of a child's life are very important for his or her health and development. As parents, you can partner us in helping your child grow up to reach his/her full potential.

NUP provides child immunisation services and growth and development checks for children from one month old till before seven years old.

Important Trips to the Polyclinic in Your Child's First Five Years

There are several visits to the polyclinic that your child will need in the first five years. Growth and development checks, hearing and vision testing, and immunisations are carried out at prescribed intervals by our doctors and nurses. Prior to each visit, please take time to fill in the pre-screening developmental questionnaire in your child's health booklet. Your information will help us understand your child's progress and the areas to focus on during the clinic visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I have to bring along for my child’s vaccination appointment?

You should bring along the following:

  • Your child's birth certificate and any previous immunisation records
  • If you are using Child Development Account (CDA) account to pay for enhanced vaccinations
    • CDA* – NETS card with Pin Number (OCBC/UOB/POSB/DBS)
    • Latest CDA monthly statement or online CDA statement of account
    • Parent's/ Trustee's NRIC
    • Child's original Birth Certificate
  • You may refer to the Post Vaccination Advice provided at the clinic for more information.
What conditions should I look out for after my child has received his/her vaccination?

Your child may experience some common side effects over the vaccination site, including:

  • Redness
  • Mild swelling
  • Mild pain
  • Fever within 48 hours of the vaccination (common in most vaccinations)

I am unable to bring my child for a scheduled appointment. How do I get a new appointment?

It is important to complete the full course of immunisations to ensure that your child has adequate immunity against the preventable diseases.

If you need to reschedule your child’s appointment, please do so through the NUHS App / HealthHub.

Alternatively, you may call +65 6908 2222 and our call centre agents will assist you.

My child has already received some vaccination from his/her hometown or another clinic, is it possible for my child to continue with his/her vaccination at the polyclinic?

Yes, you can get your child to continue with his/her vaccination at our polyclinic. Please arrange for an appointment via the following options:

  • OneNUHS or the HealthHub app if your child has been to the polyclinic before.
  • If your child has not been to the polyclinic before, please call +65 6908 2222.
Why does my child need to complete his/her vaccinations based on the immunisation schedule?

Immunisation helps the body to build antibodies so that your child will not fall ill from these diseases.

Some vaccines (e.g. Diphtheria and Measles) are mandated by Singapore law to complete before going to Primary School.

My child is attending Primary School soon but he/she has yet to complete his/her vaccination. Can my child complete the vaccinations before going to Primary School?

Yes, you may bring your child to our polyclinic to complete his/her vaccinations before going to Primary School.

Please arrange an appointment to see our polyclinic nurse for more information.

My child is now 10 years old but have not received his/her 2nd booster of the Tdap vaccination. Can my child receive the vaccination at the polyclinic?

NUP offers childhood immunisation for children from one month old till before seven years old.

For booster vaccinations given from 10 years old and above, it will be managed by the Health Promotion Board School Health Services.

Is it true that MMR causes autism?

MMR has been proven that it does not cause autism. It is supported by more than 10 years of scientific research and expert committee reviews.

My child's immunisation certificate is incomplete but his/her vaccinations are complete. What should I do?

You may refer to the National Immunisation Registry FAQ for more information.

I have not received/lost the immunisation certificate. How do I get a copy?

Your child will be issued an immunisation certificate once he/she has completed his childhood immunisation schedule. Please keep this certificate safely as it is needed for registration for primary school admission.

Online copies are also available through the National Immunisation Registry portal. Please click  here to access and print the certificate for your child using SingPass login.

As a parent, what can I do to ensure my child is progressing well physically, socially, mentally and emotionally?

You may refer to your child's health booklet to complete the age-specific Child Safety Checklist as well the Developmental Assessment Checklist before the relevant appointment.

You may also raise any concerns with the attending nurse during your visit so that our nurse will be able to advise appropriately and intervene if necessary.

The attending nurse will also be measuring your child's head circumference, height/length, and weight at each appointment to ensure your child is growing well.
